I love historical fiction novels. This one sound exceptional as it is about a strong female character during WWII. Since it doesn't have vulgar language and sexual content, it will be a good recommendation for the school where I work to read during their Holocaust unit in their English class.

Great review! 🙂 Makes me want to read the book now. I am curious to see how Janneke's character evolves from too perfect to relatable.

Historical events should be taught to everyone, regardless of who they are or where they are from. While Hilter-related books are too upsetting for me to read, I appreciate the author's retelling of the difficult and more shameful parts of history. Congrats to the author on BOTD! :)

Hitler and the Nazi regime is a demonstration of humanity at its worse. While I don't condone war, I also despise people like Hitler and respective followers. Great review!

Intriguing. this story really brings tears to the eyes. That war left an indelible mark on the countries involved and I'm sure many have not recovered from it.
Congratulations to the author.

This seems like an interesting book, and with lots of emotion put into a story about a real life event. I personally don't like reading historical fiction, but this book seems like plenty of work was put into it, especially regarding the interviews the author did.

Thank you for the review!

Historic books that have true events like this are always one of my favs. The struggles they go through to overcome and. The lessons we all learn from stories like this still seem to amaze me

This sounds like a book I would really enjoy reading. I enjoy historical fiction books and the inclusion of photos and interviews with real people add to the story. Very informative review.

Every war comes with sacrifices and outcomes. This book shed more lights into the suffering and horror of the women of Putten during The Nazi war. It's a great reminder to the historical sacrifice of these families. Thanks for this review.

The book sounds interesting and will definitely be loved by lovers of war fiction, especially when this book is based on real events. But historical fiction is not my cup of tea so I'll pass this time. Congratulations on becoming BOTD!
