I know very little about the Victorian era, but I love historical fiction, so I might just check out this story following Alexina's tale.

I don't like historical fiction but this story looks great. Am attracted with the plot. I would like to see how these two are going to love one another. Thanks for a nice review.

I love historical fiction. And this sounds promising. I wonder how their marriage will work. Thanks for a great review.

Thank you for your great review. This sounds like a great book and after reading your review, I believe I am correct in assuming that. They both seem to know how their lives will turn out, but I'm guessing that things will change. I have added it to my list of books to read.

I think we have bypassed the era where parents determine their children's spouse. Thanks for an interesting review. Superb!

I don't know what I would do if I discovered I have been betrothed to someone I have never met! Then again, I am not living in the Victorian era. Peyton is focused on getting married so he can keep his land, the one he has been working so hard in. Alexia wants a family.

Sounds like my favourite kind of reading. If people could marry their children off by contract in those days the practice was not far different from the way things are still happening in some parts of India! Can the two fall in love? This is one of the attractions of the novel. The other attraction of course is the Victorian language and milieu. Alexina has a grandfather whom she goes to see. It is a tender moment.

I tend to enjoy novels from the Victorian era, so that's a selling point. I found myself irked by the manipulation of their parents. However, this sounds like an interesting plot, and I'd like to see how Alexina and Peyton work things out. Thanks for the informative review!

A romance story sets in the Victorian era. Reading the review, this story seems so intriguing. A marriage arrangement which has been arranged by Alexina's parents and Peyton's parents. I wonder if the marriage of Alexina and Peyton will work out. I think the romance fiction readers will enjoy this story. Thanks for your wonderful review.

I'm surprised that after finding out about the arranged marriage, they still decide to go along with it even when their parents were no longer alive. I'm sure that if it was this generation, they would have cancelled the marriage.
Many books can inform you but there's only one that can transform you(The Holy Bible). Pls don't forget to drop a comment for this review. Thanks. :D :tiphat:

I read the sample of this book on Amazon for the free raffle and I agree with the reviewer. I'm not a huge fan of romance (although I am very fond of Austen), but I loved the sample for its authentic depiction of the Victorian norms and setting, endearing and intelligent characters, witty and humorous dialogue, and the brisk pace and smooth flow of the narrative. Though I found quite a few errors, it does does look like the final draft for this book was carefully polished before publication, because having come across some published books that were far less thoroughly edited, I appreciate how satisfactory this book is in that regard. Admittedly not my preference, but something I wouldn't mind reading either.

I'm a huge fan of romance novels and this one is set during Victorian times, so I know it's worth the read. Maybe these two will fall in love with each other or they will hate each other, I have to read and see what happens.

:D This story is captivating and I actually got hooked to it after the first few lines and for the fact that it's a contract marriage romance, I fell in love with the book.
