"A beautifully constructed cautionary tale based on a true story of ambition and redemption."
~JOEY MADIA, Reedsy

"A charming campus semi-romance set against the historical drama of the 1907 Quebec Bridge collapse, Andrew Palmer’s THE BRIDGE is a colorful and enjoyable novel packed with genuine heart and fascinating history."
~ROB ERRERA, IndieReader

An unlikely college friendship — and an unexpected betrayal — yield life-changing results when two coeds dig into the history of the 1907 Quebec Bridge collapse.

When Ben O'Betany -a misguided engineering student- is partnered with the girl he's been plagiarizing, he begins seeing the world in a new light as they research tragic events behind the Quebec Bridge disaster.
Modern and Victorian era timelines intersect after the students discover a journal penned by one of the men who worked on the bridge:
Alec Durand, a newlywed outsider with dreams of becoming an engineer, is thrust into responsibility after his arrogant boss neglects his duty as chief engineer, and returns to New York.
is a wonderful coming-of-age story, based on true events that changed Canadian history, and inspiring the Ritual Calling of an Engineer and the Iron Ring.

I enjoyed your review. It made me interested in reading this book, even though I am not usually interested in historical fiction. I think it makes a great read to have a main character struggling with an internal conflict combined with an interesting background plot, such as the bridge collapse here. Thanks!

I love the historical fiction novels that weave a thread of fictional element through actual historical events. The premise sounds intriguing to me. Thanks for the awesome review!

I love the storyline and I don't think being a historical fiction will stop me from reading it. I must commend the author for a well written book that's free from error and also commend the reviewer for a nice review. Congratulations on BOTD

"Never judge a book by its cover" this phrase seems ideal for a captivating story like this, both Ben and Esther had to know each other in order to learn about friendship, integrity and the value of hard work. My English is not very good but I try to do my best.

I’m curious about Ben’s character. Is he genuine or a pretentious one all along? I guess I will have to read the book to find out. Nice review, you captured the essence of the book.

This present day setting novel where two engineering students discover a journal leading up to the collapse of the 1907 Quebec Bridge sounds like a learning adventure. I added it to my reading list. Great review!

It looks like an inspiring reminder to aspirants and practitioners about what their chosen profession is all about. I would love to read the full book and see what was unraveled, as well as learn how the two students develop together!

I am not someone into history, but I like how you describe The Bridge by Andrew Palmer as a thrilling novel about friendship, integrity, and the value of hard work. The history aspect is not my preference, but the all-encompassing piece of fiction would probably keep me reading. Excellent and insightful review!

I am glad to know Andrew Palmer did a great job of giving the story a deep narrative touch that makes even the fictionalized aspect of it very realistic. Ben and Bridget are interesting characters I need to know more, especially how how they are able to reconcile their individualized opinion of each other.
