This seems like an interesting book with a peculiar protagonist. I am not that much interested in the Vietnam War, but I might give this book an opportunity.

I’ve never heard of an American soldier who decided to be a monk. That sounds interesting to read! I can see that it would be profane given the fact that it was written during a war, but it was nice to have that warning before starting to read. Thanks for the review!

Wars are extremely violent and unnecessary in my opinion. I think that anyone who goes to war will be psychologically affected. Thank you for the thorough review.

A war book with peculiar main character seems unique. The protagonist was a soldier who thinks that the war is wasteful and wanted to become a Buddhist monk. I never heard the historical-fiction story like that before. I think the author did a good job in putting it together. Great review!

I'm conflicted about if this book is catered to me. The plot is drawing me in but I'm not into books that center on any of the world wars.

This historical fiction set during Vietnam War where the protagonist questions war sounds like a thought-provoking read. I know I question it everyday watching a world leader trying to destroy another country. Great review!

This is a very interesting book. A soldier questioning the purpose of war, struggling with demons and wants to be a Buddhist monk. It’s such an in-depth review. Thanks.

The protagonist is fighting demons within and without. I hope he finds the inner peace he yearns for. Such a concise and engaging review; thank you.

Hmmm. A story about war and redemption. It's okay but I think I'm not drawn to it. Congratulations on being the Book of the Day.

The author's view of wars and how some of them are necessary and valid is definitely interesting. For me, it might be true, while it may also be not. I am not that interested in historical fiction as of the moment, so I will pass on this one.

Thanks for the marvelous review!

The protagonist's characterization as a cameraman who serves the US army during the Vietnam war and his contradictory attitude toward the war sound intriguing in this historical fiction.
