From a sampling, this seems like an interesting historical fiction story about a group that is trying to strike it rich during the Frazier River gold rush. Will their lives improve for the better? It might be worth a second look. Well done.

Unfortunately, I don’t enjoy historical fiction or action, let alone a combination of the two genres. I genuinely hope it reaches the right audience. Congrats on the BOTD!

The first paragraph of this review wouldn't have made sense to me if I hadn't read the book's sample. There were too many names. It was good that I kept on reading because, from the second paragraph onwards, the review became self-explanatory. Thanks

The book had me at the cover design with the dog but would love to read this historical fiction involving wilderness. Congratulations on being listed as Book of the day.

This review is such an insightful and enjoyable one. You sell the book as readable and teachable. I hope the Second Five struck it rich. Although this genre is not my type, it is touted as intriguing for those who enjoy adventures regarding the gold rush era. Congrats to the author on BOTD status.

Action-driven plots often captivate readers from the exposition stages to the resolution of the conflict. Thanks for the review.

"The Second Five" by Raymond Maher is an exhilarating wilderness adventure set during the Fraser River Gold Rush. With a perfect blend of action, camaraderie, and historical context, this book captivates readers from start to finish. The author's skillful storytelling keeps you guessing at every turn, and the characters' dynamics are heartwarming and relatable. The themes of trust, friendship, and the true value of life shine through, making this more than just a typical adventure tale.
Sincerely,
Sondang :tiphat:

I cherish the character names in the book (Nothing Brown, Mean Mike, and so on); it made the book more interesting and delightful to read. I also like how the book could be placed unassisted; I invariably shy missing from a succession when I have not read the earlier books. Your review is honest and captivating!

Unfortunately I have not read the first book. I think it would be best to read that first and then try this one. Congratulations on book of the day!

This sounds like a deeper-level book than I first thought. The five men sound so different, yet they may just be the perfect combination of personalities and traits. I kind of wish you hadn't put the 2 spoilers in your intro, though.

The group sounds very diverse. I hope that despite the changes, these five people will continue working together, in peace and harmony.
