One of the worst times in history to be alive, no matter how horrible times are there are always people who are good in it. The story told from a woman's perspective gives it an edge over most books. It will be lovely to read it sometimes. Thanks for the review.

Reading books about Nazi Germany paints a true picture and helps us understand the situation back then. In the case of Annalise's story, I'm curious to know what happens in her life.

It seems to have been almost impossible to be a good person in Nazi Germany. Reading about Annalise's family and their experiences would be a great way to be aware of the world back them. There's a lot to be learnt and also seems entertaining. This is a book that I would choose for my reading pile.

Today's book is an eye-opening description of family life in Germany during the German Reich. I appreciated how it provided historical context from the standpoint of a German.

Once We Were Family is an overwhelming and enriching historical fiction book by Nancy Saling Graham that depicts how Annalise's family life evolved after WWII from a lively and cheerful one to a gloomy and fearful one because of the atrocities that prevailed. The tiny details about Annalise's siblings, parents, friends, neighbors, school, and environment made me live the various moments of transition that have been thoughtfully and diligently narrated. It is recommended to read this book to get a better insight into how the emotions, beliefs, and lives of not only the Germans but, most importantly, of the Jews, were baffled with the advent of the Nazi regime.

*Once We Were Family* by Nancy Saling Graham is about a family in Germany before, during and after WWII. The reviewer mentioned plot twists do perhaps this could be an interesting treatment of the subject of Nazis and families. Although this is fiction it is possible that every tragedy mentioned in this book could have happened. We need to ensure that wars are no longer a possibility in our world as we work together to save our environment.

A historical fiction account of a German family before the during the Nazi in power. It’s nice to read from the point of view of ordinary German citizens.

Once We Were Family is a historical fiction about a German family who tried to do right by their neighbors during World War II. It's a poignant tale of good versus evil and victory over adversity. I would love to read about how the children of Klaus's family eventually turn out. Thanks for your review!

This world war was a terrible one, yet I love reading about it. I like historical fictions as I get to see what people went through. I like the characters in this because it shows that not all people who are on the "wrong" side are bad. Interesting story.
