After reading your review I am chomping at the bit to read this book. Can't wait to go on this adventure.

A well-written, historical fiction about an adventure in South America sounds like a fun read. Thank you for a wonderful review!

I don't know a lot about the rubber industry. It's nice to get a little of the history and read about the dangers the workers encountered. I have put this book on my list and look forward to reading it.

The book starts off giving us a historic walkabout concerning the world of rubber. It has geographic locations that paint pictures so vivid you just find yourself wanting to know more about the initial rubber booming, the realities that the natives suffered, there's just no way of putting it down without feeding that curiosity full. I just can't recommend it enough, it's a superb read.

I am very intrigued by the description of this book, and I really want to read it now. I love that it mentions some of the highlights of the book such as flashbacks that the characters experience during the book that help the reader get to know the characters better, the use of a foreign language here and there throughout the book, and also vivid descriptions of the wilderness and the different places that the characters visit. This review was excellent and very informative, without spoiling the actual story, which I very much appreciate.

Historical novels are not for me so I'll have to pass. Nice review though.

Based on the review it sounds interesting but the way the book starts doesn't exactly lead you to believe that it will keep your interest.

I often choose a book based on a review that I've read. And I have to say that I will read "Before we died" because of your review. Thank you for that!

I love it when history meets fictional adventure, building creative characters, adding in "the tragicomedy" and a storyline that leaves you wanting more!

I greatly enjoy reading historical fiction in every aspect there is to it. It is always interesting to discover live at new angle, in times so different from our own. I never read anything about this period, so I really look forward it.

This novel seems to be very exciting being set in the growing rubber industry of South America. I would like to see what became of the brothers. Great review.

The plot is fresh, interesting and intriguing. The less-detailed review left me with more curiousity to read the novel and find out the situations the brothers got into, which included apparently many laughed-out loud moments. Happy reading to us!

The story isn't really my cup of tea, but I'm glad to hear that a literary adventure novel based on the Rubber Boom has managed to gain attention on this site. The Irish dialogue in the story especially seems to allow for a lot of realism to this story, since European areas were some of the most affected by the premise.
