This sounds like a very touching story with life maturity. I am interested in the storyline and reading the series in order would be my preference. Good review and the character depiction sounds amazing.

This is indeed a wonderful review. Thank you. However, I highly doubt that I am the target audience for family drama novels. As such, I am out.

This is first novel by this author. I enjoyed the way she separates the different characters and allows them to tell their story. I find the characters interesting and want to learn more. I will be finding Ironbark Hill to start at the beginning of this tale.

Nice review! I liked your quote about age being a splendid cloak. It is true that we often view aging negatively when it should be celebrated.

It sounds like the author wrote yet another well-written book of the Townsend family in Australia. The well-developed characters each with their distinct personality and life sound interesting. Natalie's sense of loyalty to help her mom and family did not stop her from developing herself and learning what her own potential would be. I wonder if Natalie's true love is for Steve.

I wonder if the first installment is called Ironback Hill because of all the abuse Natalie's family endured. It is unfortunate that they endured racial prejudice outside the home as well.

Today's BOTD, the sequel to the popular novel Ironbark Hill, is a family drama that takes place over the course of 30 years. The memorable characters, engaging storyline, and relevant, universal themes make this a must read. Beautifully written and edited, Jennie Linnane proves to readers once again that she is a master of her trade. Thank you for the wonderful review!

Irma's Daughters by Jennie Linnane is a story about love, loss, etc. I'm not sure if I am going to read it. Congratulations on #botd.

A sweeping family drama that encompasses over thirty years history of Natalie's family is nicely presented in the book "Irma's Daughters" by Jennie Linnane. The story focuses on Natalie, who still works for and flourishes under the tutelage of Rosemary Glover as a continuation to Ironbark Hill novel. Hope this book also would be quite entertaining.
life is only knowing the unknown, we can do this by reading books easily- Online book club is a great place for this. This is what I believe.

I enjoy books about family, healing, drama and hearing about their experiences. I think I would enjoy this book and I will be looking into more about it.

I love the way the author put each distinct characters together to create a great storyline. And the sacrifices make for the people one love is a lesson for me. Nice review.

This story sounds beautiful. Even with the heavier themes that appear to exist throughout the entire novel, the interactions between the family members and minor characters sound so very appealing. I enjoy reading about characters growing up from time to time, and this book promises that. Thank you so much for your review.

. “Age is not a shabby coat one is compelled to wear with shame, but a splendid, triumphant cloak which bears testimony to a lifetime of experience.”
I'm glad the author believes it and said it because sometimes it not just society that believes aging 'ain't' great, but us older folks too. Especially when your body stops doing what you tell it too.

I also thought it was perceptive of you to think through who this book would appeal to most. Actually, you described me on all counts, so I definitely will be reading this book. I was wondering if you recommend I read the previous book "Ironbark Hill" first. Even if this novel stands alone, do you think I will glean more from it if I know the circumstances and characters from before?

And I obviously think you did a great review because in such a short space I'm already throwing questions at you because I value your opinion.

Thanks for introducing me to a new and seemingly talented author. It is no small feat to be able to change narrators yet make them sound like unique individuals when it's all from the pen of the same person.

I'm looking forward to reading more from you too. Thank you for a superb effort and job.

Sincerely, Laura-Lee
Thank you so much for your flattering reply! In response to your question, the novel can be read as a standalone, but you would definitely benefit from reading Ironbark Hill first. The author I see quite talented, and I hope you like the book as much as I did!

Michelle Fred wrote: 03 Feb 2020, 07:22 I like family drama and this book sounds totally charming. However, I wonder if it can be read as a stand-alone since I haven't read the prequel.
The author provides enough background information that the book can be read as a stand-alone. :)
