I like the intricate plot and the fresh perspective it brings to the real-life problem of hostility between Israel and Palestine.

While I enjoy historical fiction novels and I understand the semblance of the two children from opposite sides I don't like the political tones of this book as well. I understand it since it is a reality to this day, but I don't think that this book will be a good fit for me.

OPERATION OLIVE TREE is a novel book about two relationships in this story. Jamal and Irith's relationship was realistic for both their passion for opera grows into friendship and a dream to sing for peace.

Despite the initial support from the Ministry and the intensive opera coaching from Tel Aviv University's award winning voice trainer, Susan Roth, they were haunted by culture.

It couldn't have been easy for Irith and Jamal being pawns in a political conflict. Sounds like an interesting read.

This novel sounds like a great and prophetic read for someone wanting to explore the world outside of the United States. I like that the author attempts to examine and explain the conflict between the Israelis and the Palestinians. I also like that the characters become friends through music, but I also agree that food can become a bridge for understanding.

A story about friendship and the bringing of peace? Sign me up! I love stories about friendship that can overcome adverse times. I also love the diversity between them and how they want to bring people together. I am, however, hesitant to fully immerse myself in the book because of the political implications and intricacies of the book. I will sample it and then see what I think. Thank you for this insightful review.

This book seems to blend a lot of good ingredients: the Israel-Palestine conflict, friendship, etc. THis historical fiction seems to be a good read.

The plot of this novel sounds very intense and interesting. I wonder if the two main characters were able to survive the political turmoil. Great review!

Interesting, but unfortunately totally not my cup of tea. Don't get me wrong I am capable to enjoy quality written historical fiction, but the thing is there is always exceptions to every rule. In this particular case - I don''t like reading about recent history events.
