Seems complex and elaborate and unfortunately totally not my cup of tea. At the current moment I am searching for some light reading and tales of extreme violence of war, torture, prison definitely doesn't fit description.

I suspect this would be a bit too graphic for me. It sounds well written. It's an important subject to address.

I'd love to see the clever narrative style the author has employed for this novel. Congratulations on the BOTD. This is a very detailed review.

This is so fascinating, the author speaking for the voiceless and warns of the murder and abuse committed in the name of enforcing law and order. Nice review!

The book sounds interesting and full of events. It reveals the truth about what was happening in Evin Prison about the abuse and murders committed in the name of law and order. But the book has too much politics for my taste, besides those graphic scenes of abominable forms of torture are definitely not for me. Still congratulations on becoming BOTD as the book for sure will find its reader.

This certainly sounds like one heck of a story. The narrative strategy was indeed clever, making Jamsheed the protagonist that the readers are forced to relate to one way or the other. It elevates the poignant honesty of the narration to a certain degree. Fantastic review!

Situations changes once family is involved, thus we must always ask questions as to what we do instead of following blindly. I would love to know how Jamsheed handled the dilemma he was faced with. Nice review.

This seems like a an incredibly interesting and well-written book. I sincerely liked that the brutal honesty Jemil Metti showcased in this book. Evin prison seems like a despicable place where inhumane acts were carried out.

A story that creates awareness of the evil happenings is a good book. The story sounds interesting. Thanks for the review.

When I read your review, I instantly thought of the Stanford prison study which showed how humans can dehumanize others which explains why horrible acts like these happen. I also thought about the prisons in Russia, North Korea and other totalitarian countries where intellectuals and political activists are forced to go to by their own governments. This book is definitely gut-wrenching to read, but it sounds like something that needs to be read.

How Jamsheed saves his brother from his sadistic commander seems to be the highlight in this exciting action-filled suspense novel and I am looking forward to this hero.

Set between 1977 and 1982 in the years preceding the return of Ayatollah Raollah Khomeini. The subject is interesting, the harshness of the acts of torture is striking. It seems appropriate for those who like a novel full of drama, action, and suspense.

From a sampling, this seems like an interesting historical fiction set during the late 1970s and early 1980s and follows a security captain in Iran who is tasked with interrogating political prisoners, but has doubts when his own brother becomes a target of these interrogations. It might be worth a second look. Well done.
