Wars, no doubt, affect people's lives tremendously. I'm curious about the author's perspectives on this issue. Nice review.

I hope this book is not as depressing as it seems to be. It might be interesting to read about the post war era and it's effect on those that survived.

Historical fiction is not my usual go to but this story sounds interesting. Hiding his past from his wife makes me wonder what secrets he will reveal.

Kudos to the author for writing a book on the down sides of war. Great review.

This is truly fascinating. As an ardent reader of historical fiction, I am adding it to my shelf. It seems there is much to be learned not just about war but also its effects on people. Thanks for the review.

Wars have never worked for man's advantage. We need to realize this, and I feel we will find out after reading this one.

I like historical fiction, but I'm not big on war stories and the aftermath. It couldn't have been easy for Treat's wife to hear the truth withheld by her husband after such a long time. I feel the love and trust should have been sufficient, but then again, people are different. I'm not sure I'd take kindly to such deception, and I wonder how it's handled. Thanks for the review.

Treat seams to have gone through so much. That’s Probably the reason he hid so much from his wife. Historical fiction is not my best genre but this is a nice review.

I enjoyed my reading. A story of Paine family's struggles during the war in Vietnam. The letter of R. Treat Paine II to his sister Joan, whom he adored, is what I liked most. This is worth the read.

This book will require full attention to truly appreciate it's content; seeing as it's a down-to-the-detail kind of book. But I'm a fan of historical fiction, so I'll save this till I'm ready to give that attention. Thanks for the review!

Thank you for sharing your review with us. I don’t particularly enjoy historical fiction and I definitely don’t like reading stories about wars, so I think I will skip this one.
