The reviewer had me with "dead being alive" and a descriptive style of writing is a cherry on top for me. I like how multiple characters' stories led to Fern and Effie, contributing to the main plot.

This is an interesting book to read. While i may not be able to relate with the characters it is inherently good to know more about how people of colour are suffering and to be able to help them out in any way i can. Thanks for the review.

The compelling mix of Alonzo's rise to success and Effie's quest for change has me hooked. With a unique perspective on early 20th century Georgia, 'The Truth Together' promises a gripping tale.

It is quite refreshing to come across people who do not allow their colour to stop them from being who they want to be. I can imagine the shock that comes with the discoveries Fern and Effie made.

Very interesting read. I've read the first few chapters. At first I started to get confused about who was who. But it kept my interest and kept me reading to find out what was happening. Before I knew it i felt like I was a part of the tell at the scene watching things unfold. Thus far it has seemed to be a very enjoyable book. You can tell the author has done their research on the era through the details woven into it's story line which make it all more believable and interesting.

Your review was incredibly written and I enjoyed reading it. I liked Effie's character and admired her courage to venture on a journey like hers. The author has a unique writing style. I believe this book will portray a lot about the living conditions of the people who had come out of slavery in an era where racism was still widespread. Congratulations on the BOTD!

This is a great review. Mystery and adventure in early 1900...that's really fascinating. The story behind each character and the connections between different incidents really are interesting. Though there are many characters in the book I am sure each one of them have their own role to play. Thank you for this review

Even during this dark period of time for women, Effie and Fern are great examples of resilient women who are in search of a great life. I'm always drawn to books that are about struggle and navigating how to overcome those struggles. I cannot wait to read this full book.

The author's descriptions of the characters , both past and present lend effective insights into what life was like during this era, The story was extremely realistic. Effie, a woman of strong and brave character, attributed to her mother, Nora, is wonderfully portrayed, as are all the characters in the story. I can't wait to finish the book! Excellent review Congratulations on BOTD :tiphat:

This book gives the story of Alonzo Herndon who suffered from the racism practiced in America in the 1900's. The daughter; Effie Herndon was a young girl who had passion for nursing, and pursued it. I admire her courage despite being faced with racial discrimination. Congratulations on the book of the day.
