This sounds like an amazing book. One can’t help but root for Stephen who was not happy in his fathers home. I want to read and see if he was able to attain his goals.

Without retelling the plot, I’ll just say this: it’s not an easy read but it’s definitely such an important one. Dark, emotional, and yet hopeful it’s a beautifully written tale that will leave no heart untouched.

From a sampling, this seems like an interesting romance story following Stephen who leaves home to follow his aspirations to be a writer, but ends up working in construction, and Julie, a well-off woman who gives up her studies to be with Stephen. It might be worth a second look. Well done. Congrats!

Stephen shouldn't compare himself with his father, Julie is his present now. Therefore, he can choose to live his past or present. I love a mix of action, romance, and thriller and this book has it. Congrats on BOTD.

Thank you for your great review. I also thought it was well written and the author described things well. I just felt so bad for Stephen. What an awful thing to be accused of murdering his mom. I'm sure she wouldn't have felt that way. Right now, I don't feel like reading such a sad story, but I'm sure many others will enjoy it very much.

Thank you for your review. Although romance is not my preferred genre, your review and the short sample on Amazon seem to indicate that there is more to it than love in this story. Steven's struggles may be seen as a metaphor for life as one tries to navigate through life's challenges. I think I will give this a try.

Romance literature really isn't my preferred genre, but Stephen's story sounds like a great one for those that enjoy it.

I agree with you. I have been told that if someone really wants to be with you, they will change what they are doing to better coincide with the way that you live, and to better live with morals like yours. She should have been strong in her convictions and finished school If it's meant to be, then be it will.
Good dissection of the anals of this story Reviewer. Many emotions to be mulled over.

Stephen's characterization seems to have fabulous shades, and his aspiration to become a famous author seems captivating in this story.

Stephen had an extremely rough life at home. His father and his siblings blamed him for his mother dying in childbirth. Why he remained at home until he was eighteen is a mystery, although he did go to his high school graduation. Then he agrees for his wife to forego her studies? Something seems amiss here. The review makes the story sound good but is hard to overcome such inconsistencies.

This sounds like a strong character-driven story. I like how well-developed and complex the characters seem. While Julie giving up her studies for Stephen doesn’t sound like it’d be my favorite thing to see a female character do, it does add to the flaws in their relationship and piques my interest in how that might affect their future together. Thank you for the helpful review.

I love how Stephen surged to succeed despite the hate from his drunken Father who he didn't want to be like and siblings who were supposed to nurture him with love but rather blamed him for his mother's death.

This is a historical fiction novel that looks at how childhood trauma can have ripple effects while growing up.

Life usually throws at us that we have no control of, I would love to see Stephen turn things around for himself. I would love how it works out with Julie as well. Great Review
