Thank you for the great review. I'm glad you enjoyed the book. I did like the author's style of writing as I read the sample. Too bad that a couple of minor errors took away from the great book though. I'm sure many will enjoy this book, but it's just not the type I enjoy, so I'll pass.

Raymond Maher seems to be a very talented and creative historical action packed fiction writer. I like the fact that though this book on quest for gold in Fraser river is a sequel, it can be read as stand-alone. I like your point that it is educative worth more than gold; and that in the story, the main protagonists discover being grateful and alive is more important than gold. You have written the review so well. Congratulations on the BOTD!

The Second Five -- a band of diverse and colorful characters whose lives and fortunes will depend on each other in their quest for riches in the wildest days of the gold rush, in the 1860s in British Columbia. Sounds like an exciting story -- good review.

to an action-filled adventure in the wilderness that makes the readers clueless in every twist. Wilderness adventure fascinates me, like fur trading, canoe river travel, and camping strategies, especially in making tasty meals, cleaning, and hunting animals for food. Moreover, the author knows exactly when to add the harmonious singing sensation to their gold-digging journey. Plus, the lovable pets add a unique twist when reaching the climax of the story.

This right here, interest me in the book more! Appears to be an action filled historical book about the gold rush. And as the review states,
The "cost of chasing their dreams" may look dangerous, but they realize that being grateful and alive each day is more important than gold.
Definitely has me interested in the BOTD!

What an excellent review! I really enjoy books full of adventure, friendships, and life lessons. Gold mining in the 1800s is a fascinating topic to write about. I personally love to read books about this era. I can't wait to see if the five men found what they were looking for.

"The Second Five" is a historical fiction novel based on actual events dating back to the 1860's. The author, Raymond Maher did a great job on character development and on making this action-packed, plot twist. I enjoyed reading this well detailed review thank you.

"The Second Five" by Raymond Maher. An interesting book, talks about the five men namely, Brown, Henry, Jacque and CF father and son, then lastly Mike. This men fought themselves but they never forget that their friendship is worth more than good.Trust, fellowship, and friendship made them strong from Intruders. Congrats on your #BOTD.

Mining for gold is hard work and the Canadian gold rush was an interesting backdrop for the story outlined in "The Second Five" by Raymond Maher. The five main characters are introduced well and each person offers unique talents and character tot eh story. The review makes the book sound very interesting and thought-provoking.

Good review. I like that this book takes us closer to the action. It gives us some sort of view into the lives of some of the men that were part of the rush. It preaches friendship and love and understanding, those are always good lessons one should learn.
