I really like the sound of this book. I love historical fiction and the 1940s are one of my favourite periods. The characters involved definitely sound interesting and I'd love to know the significance of each object in the box! So many things happened during the 40s and I'm intrigued to know not only what John's grandfather was doing then, but also how John reacts to life at that time - and to his 'teenage' grandfather. Thank you for a great review Amagine. It really caught my interest.

Thank you for your thorough review, the blurb on Amazon really did not go into much detail but from your review, it gave me info and helped me make the decision that I will indeed read the book at some point.
Thanks you.

Yes, the youth should be more appreciative of the very old. They still have great and wise stories to tell (and re-tell).

Thanks, Amagine, for opening the tattered box.
My sentiments exactly ; -)

The book made me imagine how our grandparents lived their lives.. it must have been fun for them although we of nowadays don't even like to imagine ourselves in the past. but the truth is their lives was awesome and they actually set a standard for us to follow but unfortunately.. We all have our ways Now
the book is very interesting as well as eye opening.

What a cool concept to be able to go back in time and live the life of our ancestors. I love the idea of having a magical box of treasures too. Nice review!

I do not usually read books that fall into the historical genre but this one seems different. For me, journeying with someone from the present into the past would make this an easier to relate to story rather than a book set solely in the past.

I love the idea of the book, going through time to experience life with your grandparent. What an enriching adventure that would be! The fact Johnny matures, is a good indication that this is could be an excellent story. I look forward to reading this book. You wrote an inspiring review. Outstanding!
