Since I read two of the four books in the series, I really enjoyed your review. The polio is mentioned in the other books, as one of the kids' friends suffered from it. It seems we enjoyed some of the same features of the nostalgic content, and you make an excellent point about parents explaining the pop-culture references. Great review!

The author does speak about Jonas Salk and the discovery of the vaccine. I really liked how she presented the story through the eyes of a school-aged child. Hope you will enjoy the book too. Thanks for commenting.

I like that the author's main plot line was about polio. There are many historical fiction books out there for kids that seem to cover the same moments in history over and over. I like that this is a topic that hasn't been covered much, that I know of. Thanks for a well-done review.

This is a unique series and I like the point of view of the book. Some of the tv programs and song titles might be unfamiliar for this age group. Hope you get a chance to read the book! Thanks for stopping by.
