I'm not into historical fiction, but this novel seems great in capturing the details of the real event and using them to create the fictional story. Thank you for your great review!

A historical fiction about the Nazi war based on true events. I salute the author for deciding to write this story. It also seems well-researched and I appreciate that the author included other perspectives from her friends and family as well. Thanks for your review.

This book, based on real events, tells the story of the crime suffered by the people of Putten in the Netherlands, in which the Nazis, upon learning of a failed ambush they planned against them, decided to send all the inhabitants of Putten to Labor camps until they faced death and then they burned the town. An interesting historical story.

A historical fiction, that tells the story of the Nazi war crime against the town of Putten, is definitely a great read. The impeccable editing, absence of vulgarity, and exclusion of explicit sexual content are, to me, the greatest qualities of this book. Already added in my to-read list.

Well-researched and edited, today's BOTD is a historical fiction novel about the Nazi war crime against the town of Putten, Netherlands. The real photos of people and events pull readers in and bring this already emotional storyline to life even more. Thank you for the review! Great work!

This book looks like one that I would read. Though I must say I was hoping that it was not fiction. Maybe it is best that it is. It might make me shed too many tears. Congratulations to the author on BOTD!

This story of a society struggling to break free from the chains of inhuman exploitation by the Nazi is surely a historical journey into our grim past so as to inform more peaceful future decisions.

Looks like this is a good read. I'm hesitant that this may be a work that is overly reliant on the lead character but the review says that it's not really a Mary Sue character. Also, the sample does show that it's not so focused on the lead character. Thank you for the review.

I love WWII historical fictions, even though most of them inevitably portray the drama of that war in one way or another. Your review looks really good. I really liked your comments on Janneke. It shows that you "breathe" the book while reading it. Congratulations!

When I read that this is a historical novel, I was already keen on it. Reading the review had made me even keener. I found myself leaning towards historical novels about 3-4 years ago, which came as a surprise to me, as history was my second most hated subject at school. Now I know it was because of how history is told.
I am very much looking forward to reading it. Thank you for a beautiful review :)
