I enjoy historical fiction and one that involves pirates is a refreshing change. Excellent review. I like the fact that the author provides information on the distances traveled between locations, the use of descriptive text so that the reader can image the scene. I am interested in finding out what life Brandy will choose.

Finally, there are a few lessons to learn in this book. Some of my favorites are that free men work harder when they earn something they can appreciate and enjoy, love is more powerful than hate, and the reality of fate is that it can be both kind and cruel.

These are three very important lessons. And I love the idea of women pirates! It's a topic that's not been explored so often, as far as I know.

While this type of plot is not my normal cup of tea, I feel drawn to the book's visual aspects.
