Standing up against slavery is a very courageous thing and back in the slavery days I think it would have meant putting a target on your back. I'm sure I would enjoy reading this book. Thank you for the great review.

I love that you mention this group of slaves is thought to be dumb. I find I get much more involved with a story when I can agree with the the struggles of the protagonist, especially when it's thought to be a triviality by the antagonist. This seems like such an underdog story, adding to my shelves now!

Love the emphasis on the characters, and the structure of the rebellion and its repression. Great flow of words in the review!

This seems to be quite an interesting premise for a book and that 4 out of 4 rating just makes things that more persuasive. Detailed review. Will look this one up.

Thanks!

Wow! I am very impressed with this book review. It sounds like something worth the read, especially being so well edited. And I believe a full 4 star rating is true praise. I also think this book might have some of my favorite tropes in it. I’ll keep it on my radar.

Thank you for your review. I especially do not like very lengthy books but the story described seems intriguing, plus there’s always something to learn or unlearn from reading about stories like these.

A contention between the government and one single man seems like an unfair fight but this protagonist is obviously not fighting alone.. a book on history with a symbolic title is definitely a good read.
