This is an interesting historical fiction novel highlighting Rome in 1943, espionage, resistance, war, unique characterization, and a captivating plot. The book is temporarily free on Amazon Kindle and has a well-written OnlineBookClub review. Congrats on the BOTD selection.

I find this book to be quite interesting based on what I’ve seen. The curiosity that would kill a reader while on this one can’t be measured. Who survives? Who dies?

I love the cover on this book with the elephant statue at the Piazza della Minerva. I usually enjoy a well-written historical fiction novel, including some that center around WWII. This one seems to have all the right elements, and I am looking forward to finding out how Francesca and her family make it through the turbulent period during 1943 to June 1944. I also appreciated the map of the locations in the story. Thanks for a good review on this novel.

I like readings associated with WWII. This historical fiction novel is based on the events that occurred in Rome when the Germans occupied it. It is attractive that fictional events are mixed with real ones in a believable way.

I'm not much of a historical fiction reader but a novel set in Rome during a key period of World War II is interesting thanks to the plot concerning the protagonists that mixes with historical events. Thank you for your great review!

I can tell that this book doesn't hold back on the characterisation. Even based on your scant description, they grabbed my attention. I look forward to growing attached to them. Thank you for the review.

I wonder if Francesca will ever see Roberto return home. The plot seems intriguing, but I'll have to pass because I'm not a big fan of historical fiction.

Historical war stories that leave you intrigued and glued to this book. Juggling between survival, intelligence and captivating events happening in Rome, during a time of uncertainty and anguish. Intriguing

I love historical fiction, and although I've read a lot of WWII-centric novels, none have been about the events in and around Rome at that time.
