I haven't had the chance to hear about a lot of books that deal with this period and place, but this one sounds very interesting. I love how it features clans, it seems interesting to me since I'm not that familiar with the history of Middle Tennessee. Thanks for the review.

I would have to agree with you. I've seen very little in historical fiction in the U.S. from the early 19th century. Plenty set in England and France but little else. There seems to be quite a bit set in Colonial and Revolutionary War times, as well as the Civil War era. The in-between is left out yet there was much going on in regards to settlers, as portrayed in "Crockett's Coin".
Life without a good book is something MrsCatInTheHat cannot imagine.
