This book intrigues me as I too enjoy historial fiction set in World War II, which I've read a lot of. I like the idea of reading a story that takes place in a completely different setting to the usual World War II novels. It sounds like the writing and the story are both strong enough to make it a good read, despite the errors and slow start, so I will certainly give it a read, I'm sure I'll enjoy it :)

War and romance in one book is quite fascinating to read. I like the cover and the title of the book because they are captivating to the readers. I wonder of the twists and turns of the story. Thanks for this great review.

I absolutely love history, especially WWII. Like you I never think of the war being outside of Europe and Japan. This sounds like a book I would enjoy reading, despite the rough start. Thank you for a well-written review!

This sounds like a unique side to World War Two and the setting of South Africa. It seems to be an entirely different perspective such as you have mentioned here. I read a few pages of it today, and I agree with you that it does start out rather slow, and I didn’t feel pulled into the story. Thanks for this review as it helped me determine that I’m probably going to pass on this one for now.

I love stories with a background of war. Be it 'The Book Thief', 'The Bronze Horseman' or 'All the Light We Cannot See', I loved them all. Your review is very well written and I look forward to reading 'War Serenade'.

Like said before, there is something not intriguing about the slow start of the story. I however loved the saying 'anticipation is the greatest part of life'. To be specific, I loved the book and especially after the author introduced us to Pietro. Honestly, the review is awesome and exact summary of the book.

This is an amazing historical romantic fiction set in WWII in South Africa. The plot was incredibly captivating and I could not take a break. The book has a free sample on Amazon Kindle and the onlinebookclub review of the book was written masterfully. Congrats

War and forbidden romance together in one book, sounds good! It's a shame that there are editing problems. I still think I'll add it to my 'to read' shelf. Thanks for your review and congrats to BOTD!

A Historical fiction revolving around the forbidden love between an Italian war prisoner and a British volunteer woman during World War II sounds good. It is good that the book shows the different aspects of the war. It is also good that the author fixed the errors noted by you. Switching perspectives between the two characters is another plus. I am not fond of war stories, but I am glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for the review!

A historical fiction beautifully depicted, with great characterization and the plot set in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. A love story, against the backdrop of World War II, makes it a compelling and engaging, until the end. The interesting part of the story is that the man and woman who falls in love with each other are on opposite side of the war.

I am not a big fan of WWII but the free sample fascinated me already since the book has some elements of romance. I am excited to read the story and thanks for the great review.
