The concept of warners and weepers is fascinating. When you add a story of forbidden love it gives us a recipes for a compelling read.

Beautiful review which compels us to give it a read.

I always look forward to your reviews. You're a careful reviewer, so when you say you didn't find any spelling or grammatical errors, that's impressive. "Emotionally taxing" books aren't really my thing, but it sounds like an extremely well-written book. Thanks for your review!

What a delightful storyline. It's honestly hard when people fall in love but the situations they find themselves to prevent them from being together.

Great review! It seems like there is a lot going on with these characters that allow the reader to identify with their story. I like historical fiction and I will check this out.

I'm not sure about the premise of this book, but I like the part where you mention that it is character driven. I have been looking for more books with good character development. Thanks for your review

The war of the ages. The fight between the desires of men and the societal/religious principles. I love the idea of this book. It goes straight to my shelf. Thanks for a free copy.

Weeper by Greg Morgan is about a family and an unwillingly adopted child. This is very common but there are people with a big heart. Thanks for the free copy. #BOTD.

Forbidden love, although used frequently by several authors, is a storyline that never fades to give me hope. Hope that after all the aches, one could still find something to thank for. Looking forward to meeting Augustus when I can finally start reading this. Thank you for the great review.

Hmm! Why would Augustus True's parents sell him off to the school to work as payment for his brother's education? And how will he overcome other cadets' constant bullying? I can't wait to find out. Congrats on the BOTD.

This book sounds so much like a Dickens style of writing. It’s a plus that it is so well-edited and that the characters well-developed. Thanks for an insightful review!

Bravery, resilience, sheer determination, regretful actions, gothically intriguing funeral history, AND forbidden love?! I can't wait to burrow into this novel further. The death mourners and diggers of days gone by entice me fully with their maudlin acts of macabre theatre. :coffin: Thanks for a helpful review!

There are so many things going on for this novel: forbidden love, an unwanted child, secrets, war. Sounds quite interesting!

What a unique storyline! I honestly never knew that there was a profession known as the weeper. I can only imagine the profession itself was emotionally taxing, let alone the entire span of this novel. What's not to love with this character-driven and unique narrative. Thank you so much for the well-written and insightful review! Happy reading :techie-studyinggray:

Thank you for such a wonderful review. I would have not known about weepers at all, especially in the western world, had it not been for this book. However, tales of love, loss, and reality as parents treat adopted Augustus differently is just as relevant now as then. I would love to read this story of his resilience and courage. Well done on your review!
