The book brings to life the lives of ordinary Iraqians caught in the endless wars. It also showed how war can change the trajectory of ones life

The book's setting in Iraq reminds me of the American invasion into that country in 1991. I like that the story is a political espionage. Great review.

Refugee On a Pendulum seems to be fast-paced and filled with a lot of action and suspense. I want to read the book to see how the story of Sabah and Jalal turns out. Great review.

Political espionage, eavesdropping, blackmail, refugees, and war-torn lands would certainly keep this thriller complex throughout! Thank you for your thoughtful review.

A captivating political espionage thriller "Refugee On a Pendulum" by Jemil Metti, which is filled with action and suspense. The story follows a life-long saga of Russian roulette encounters between two Iraqi 12th grade students. A nice entertainer.

A historical fiction that focuses on the plight of refugees who are displaced for reasons that they have not played a part in.

Well, this seems like an interesting action-packed novel. I am curious about Hamdia. What's her impressive life story? Do things work out for her in the end? Is Jalal's father eventually exposed, or does he get away with changing his son's grades? Your review has succeeded in piquing my curiosity. I look forward to meeting the strong female leads. Indeed, this seems like a good book to read. Plus, it's relatively short.

This is a thriller about two 12th-grade students, Sabah and Jalal, in Mosul, Iraq. Sabah and Jalal both plan to enrol at Mosul University's School of Medicine. Nearing graduation Sabah overhears a conversation between his geometry teacher and the Deputy Chief of Police, Jalal's father, about Jalal's grade. Sabah realized that Jalal's father was blackmailing Mahmood, the geometry teacher, and he was seen listening to the conversation. This started a life-long saga of Russian roulette encounters between the two friends.

When the U.S. came to Iraq their lives were thrown into turmoil and Sabal went to the U.S. to continue his medical studies. After becoming a doctor he worked for Doctors Without Borders in Syria and King Hussein's General Hospital in Jordan. This is a political espionage action and suspense thriller that vividly describes the consequences of military, religious and political turmoil on the lives of ordinary people. A very good review of a book that I am adding to my to-read list.

I am interested to see Sabah's connection as a medical practitioner to the war. It may seem evident since he decides to take the war front to fight the battle to save lives. However, I feel it's more than that.
