Stories like this, where you get to read various characters develop, are so unique. They make it easier to enjoy and relate well to the plot. Reading about Jacob and his brother surviving the harsh reality of not having a father figure and leading a meaningful life for themselves was beautiful. Nice review.

I love the way the mother and brother tried to play the father’s part by showing great love to the young one. Thanks for the highlights.

Jacob's story is very heartbreaking for anyone, left by his mother when he was small and never got the love of a father. But once he was able to survive and not give up, very inspiring

This sounds like a great book. I'm one who enjoys foreshadowing as it gives me an idea of what I'm looking forward to as the story progresses. Thank you for your review!

I can imagine when a child did not experience his father's love, and to crown it all, his father then transfer his supposed responsibilities to a brothel owner. This is bad!

The Story of by Shirley B. Novack is a historical fiction novel set in the 1900s. It is about Jacob and his brother who immigrated to the United States. They lived in a brothel and faced a lot of hardship. Can't wait to read it. Congrats on botd. Great review.

It is so sad when we get to come accross such matters, where a parent lacks love to offer their kods. I don't know how possible is it that a parent can just live with disgust and hatred to kids of their own. It does not only create a barrier between the two but the situation itself creates an emotional scar to children, they grow up feeling unwanted and that is not great. But it is good to know that in this story Jacob's mother tried her best to patch all the missing pieces in Jacob's life. But I am concerned on how he got to feel when he lost his mom "his number one supporter". The story sounds like a great read, I already sense powerful lessons it hopes to leave with the reader.

I would also like to know what happened to Jacob I can't wait to read the book. Nice and beautiful review.

What could this hurtful experience be? I think Jacob acted maturely just to protect his brother Heschel. I look forward to reading this amazing book. Great review. Congratulations on BOTD.

Reading this review made me fall in love with the story. Jacob and Heschel's life without a father would have been hard. But they did manage to survive it. A great book that can really interest anyone.

I feel so bad for Jacob. Combined with not having his father's love, he also suffered truama of having lost his mother. I will love to know more about the story. Nice review. Congrats on winning BOTD.

This is an engaging review. I hope I'd be able to read it someday, as much as I love historical fiction, it is the romance genre I prefer. Well done reviewer.

This story explains the importance of fatherly love. The truth remains that Jacob could not even tell his father about his hurtful experience. He lacked responsible Parenthood. Great review. Congratulations on BOTD.
