"Nell's West" by Erin Eldridge is a story about an 11-year-old girl named Nell set in the mid 1800s. Nell lost her mom and baby brother so she was left to care for her dad and their farm. Dad decided they needed to move to Oregon so Nell went with him since she had no choice. The book gives readers an excellent view of life in the 1800s and it includes love, death and survival. Very good review.

Although I enjoy stories involving character development of the lead, the plot for this book did not appeal to me enough. So I'll have to pass on this one. But congratulations on being listed as Book Of The Day.

Nell seems like a strong character based on the review. I like that the author was keen with descriptions. It makes comprehension easier.
The only thing is I wish the cover was as amazing as the story. Congratulations on making book of the day!

We will face different struggles in life but we shouldn't give up in the face of all. Nell is a strong woman and I celebrate her. Congratulations on BOTD

It is really painful for Nell Losing both her mother and her sister. Sometimes traveling or relocating to somewhere else does not solve anything.

I see Nell as a girl with a strong personality. I don't mind reading the book so long as I would find out how Nell navigated through her life's journey. Nice review. Congratulations on BOTD.

Survival stories are always interesting and educational I hope Nell and her father do succeed in moving to Oregon because they already have been through a hard time losing their loved ones.

After reading the review and going over all the posts, it seems like I have to keep the language in mind when reading this book, with a nicely explained review I'm definitely looking forward to meet this 11 year old achiever and being introduced to Nick all this happening in the 1800's. I have downloaded 'Nell's West', now for the exciting part, hope it match the review.

I enjoy stories about Frontier American and how life was during that time. Nell was made to carry responsibilities of an adult. Left the life she knows behind to settle in another place. I wonder how she and her father in a new environment. Did they get what they want eventually?

At first I thought it's a romance story based on the cover. I enjoy reading about families and their journey while they're full of aspirations in life. I'd like to add this historical novel to my TRB list. Congratulations on the BOTD.

The book has a nice storyline. I also liked that the reviewer talked on it's English being difficult to understand. That is an important thing to note. I believe the book would be interesting to read. Congrats on winning BOTD.

I think the book deserves all the stars it's been given. The only thing that will solve the difficult-to-understand dialect of English spoken, will be for the author to include a glossary or a footnote on each page where such difficult words are mentioned.

Thank you for an extremely well-written review. You did a super job of describing this book. I’ve have begun to read it, but will probably not finish it since several scenes have a a vulgar word or two throughout many chapters.

Losing a mother is the most painful experience one can ever go through. I can imagine how challenging it could have been for Nell to cope with the idea of losing a mum, and then left with no choice but to be an adult, taking up adult responsibility at a tender age. But how did she fair? And how was life like when they moved to Oregon?
