I am not aware nor familiar of the piece of history explored in this historical fiction novel. I also have not yet read The Deadly Five which is the novel that precedes The Second Five. I would not be purchasing and reading this book.
Congratulations to the author for BOTD!

This historical fiction features the story of the gold rush in Canada. For the characters, digging gold was their primary goal at first. As they came to know more about each other, they realized valuable intangible things that are better than worldly riches. Congratulations on the BOTD.

The gold rush was one of the most famous times in mankind history. The personality of Nothing Brown is definitely one of the best developed in the book. The incorporation of values such as care and kindness for one another make the book worth reading.

No interest in gold rush. It’s uranium fallout polluting the planet. Costume hire. No such attire in the 1800’s.
Congratulations on being BOTD

This is a really good book and an interesting one at that. I see no faults in the book and I would gladly give this book a high rating.

Thank you for your review, although it seemed a bit disjointed, and a tad confusing. You stated, "...the professional gambler died and got himself entangled..." How does one get entangled with anyone or anything if he's dead? And I'm assuming the "professional gambler" is the Faro dealer you had mentioned? You went on to say, "Will the five men still be able to find gold amidst those troublesome people?" How were they troublesome, and again, I'm assuming here, that you're referring to "Frenchy and his brothers, as well as another miner named Rod Murdock" when you say "those troublesome people"? But you never mentioned why they're troublesome, or what they did to be labeled as such...
The premise of the story didn't really entice me to want to read the book. I've never even been much for the Gold Rush in the Sierra's, and that's coming from someone who lived almost her entire life in their foothills.
Sorry, but I'm going to have to pass on this one.

This seems to be an exciting book. Money fuel greed, and greed move in a convoy of all evil manners. These five men must protect their interests as well as insulate themselves against greed in their desire to be successful in the quest for gold and money. Thanks for the review.

This review makes me curious. Those five exhibited good virtues, and there are valuable lessons worth more than gold. The names of the characters though. Honest review.

I don't really know much about the gold rush of the 1800s and I'm not a big fan of historical fiction, so I'll pass on this book.

The story sounds fascinating. In spite of their differences, the five men had the virtues of trust, friendship and togetherness. I am more curious now. Nice review.

I'm always down to go on any adventure a good book takes me on. I've always been fascinated by the Gold Rush that occurred in California over 100+ years old. I'm going to give this book a chance because the topic is fascinating and I want to see if these characters are able to find gold. Congrats to the author for having the BOTD.

Today's book appears to rekindle interest in the Gold Rush period. It delves into how different people value gold and the extent to which they will go to obtain it. For fans of historical fiction, the historical context is interesting to explore.

Even if it was risky, they are struggle to reason for living. They ignoring the danger that occur in everyday. They risk their life to protect their environment and also to their children and houses.
Sometimes the story of the book of the day, has always trail in the first or in the beginning, but in passing time, It has better end. But the conclusion of the readers are have satisfying experience of reading and have good impression. So, we have different opinions about the story of the book of the day.
