The idea of a group of semi-immortal friends and their adventures in different time periods caught my attention, but I didn't like the author's writing style. The descriptions of the battle scenes in WWII were too long and boring and, apart from a brief description of Constantinopole, the extended dialogues in chapter one sounded unrealistic. Thanks for your review, though.

Excellent review! Extremely detailed and insightful. I like unique ideas and books because it's rare to find those nowadays, so this one is right up my alley and I think I'll check it out later.

I love historical fiction, and the semi-immortal concept is intriguing. It makes me wonder exactly what the limitations of a semi-immortal being might be and how living so long might affect how they handle certain situations. If a normal lifespan's worth of experiences can change how people see and do things, a life this long must have a huge effect on the old soul. Thank you for the helpful review.

Semi-immortals defenders of people. Sound like my kind of book to read. Interesting in my likes. Congrats on BOTD.

The book sounds intriguing. But the plot couldn't appeal to me. So I will avoid choosing this one. Great review.

:tiphat: This is one of the best reviews I have ever read...by a long shot! It seems like, from the review, it will be somewhat similar to the Twilight book series. When I saw the cover, it didn’t seem anywhere near as interesting and suspenseful as this reviewer has informed us that it would be. Thanks for the awesome review!!!

Great job on review, very detailed. I think good that the author too the time to develop the characters. Giving them background gives the reader better understanding of their roles and goals in the story. It is also understandable that the semi immortal beings will want to have power and rule the world. It is also great that the author writing is very descriptive to help the reader imagine what is happening in story. Being able to see the action and romance will definitely make it a great read for me. I am definitely a visual reader. I like to become apart of the story and it sounds like I may be able to do that with this one. Congrats on BOTD.

Sasly, I haven't read the first book of the series yet. It must be real nice to read it first because I'm honestly a huge fan of fantasy books that has a storyline like this. This one is right up my alley and I think I'll check it out later. Thanks for your review

Based on the Amazon summary, The Noble Mercenary by Patrick John Donahue is a fantasy conspiracy thriller set in Europe and the Middle East, both in the era of the Crusades and the present day of terrorist threats and attacks. My impression was the four lead characters either can travel through time or have been gifted with immortality. Kibetious' review explains they are semi-immortals, which probably means they can go on living as young people like elves, unless they are fatally injured. This novel, which is part of a series, is divided into two parts: the characters' adventure during the Crusades, and the present day, wherein they have to stop a terrorist attack planned by a group of billionaires called The Select. I'm hoping for a lot of cliffhangers and mysteries to be unravelled.

I love fantasy and would love to read it too but i haven't read it's first book. Hope the first one is great enough to intrigue a fantasy reader.

Upon reading on Kibetious' review, it gave me a short but a full blast about the book. His reviews on the comparison of current and previous situation made me understand what it is at first. I also feel excited to read this book when he briefly but clearly stated on how characters were presented and how the events flowed. His review awakens my love for action stories. He was able to relay the interest and passion he had for The Noble Mercenary. I will be reading this book.

The author narrates the story of four semi-immortal beings who have lived for over nine hundred years. In present times, they save various parts of the world from deadly attacks, while resisting the powerful oligarchs who control everything.

Thank you for your wonderful review :) I'd love to see how cultures have varied over time and how the author has highlighted different aspects of history. I can't help but wonder how different the world would be if everyone was semi-immortal.

Living for so many years must be frustrating. It's nice to see that the protagonists are having fun. I'm happy to see that this book is well written and fun to read. Well done on the writer because writing a story like that can be challenging.
