Just from reading the sample of the book this review is very accurate, while reading both I noticed a few repetition of words/phrases that made staying engaged difficult for me.

Overall the book has an intriguing plot line with strong family connections, both negative and positive, from those in Jacob’s life. This makes it necessary to keep reading so you know what happens.

The author has included a couple of intriguing and well-developed characters in this story that readers will relate to. Seeing Jacob and Herchel's bond and how it helped them overcome challenges throughout the story was both inspiring and educational. Congrats on BOTD.

I'm glad Jacob and Heschel grew up well despite their father Max's neglect. This historical fiction sounds intriguing because there is a mystery surrounding what happened to Jacob and the nightmare that has resurfaced. Congratulations on BOTD.

The story of this novel sounds unique. And, I want to know about those wonderful friends of Jacob who were always there for him.

Great review. It is always sad when a parent decides not to be active in a child's life. It was nice to read that Jacob and Herchel managed to have love and friendships as they grew up.

I'm happy Jacob and Heschel didn't let their brother's absence deter them from having a fulfilled life. Max didn't exactly do well. I hope he makes up for his absence.

I liked the story of Jacob and his brother Heschel. From them, I learned the value of perseverance despite losing their mother and an unconcerned father. Thanks for the review.

Definitely a read for me. It seems full of suspense and secrets. I'm curious to see if the secrets will be revealed and if so what the outcome will be. Thanks for a great review.

Today's book of the day has a strong tie to family background and friendship. I like that the story isn't fictionalized alone but involves some real-life experiences that added uniqueness to the story. Great review and congrats to the author on being the #BOTD.

The book sounds tragic to me, but it's war time and the environment was not ideal so Jacob getting out unscathed is expected just hoping that the brothers will have a better future. I would love to read this book.

It's great that Jacob and Herschel were able to overcome their challenges and do well for themselves in America. I wasn't fully intrigued by the storyline, so I'll pass on this book.

Congrats on BOTD. Despite not receiving love from his father, it's good to know that Jacob has been showered in the love of his mother and his friends.
