Scotty and the coaches are examples of bad influences, and they represent a handful of actual people in this classification in real life. But then I am impressed to read about the intervention of characters like Sara and Charlie's mother. People should always be allowed to develop at their own pace, and any unnecessary selfish pressure from external bodies should be discouraged. Indeed, the organised sports in Torrid Hills have exposed a whole lot of things. Lessons must be learned.

The idea of parents wishing their children into sports and other activities is a widely ignored example of toxic parenting. I'm glad the book addresses this. Well done on the review.

I love how the author presents various perspectives of sports life in Torrid Hills. Coaches pushing the players to the limit because they see potential is very common and is helpful most times. But there are times where it turns bad as well. I would love to take this book up. Congrats on BOTD!!

Billy Jone's father speak to the issue of parents trying to live the children's lives for them. Arnold did not get a chance to live his own life, so he's protecting his own son, Billy, from this heartache. Good for dad! Thanks for your review.

It is a common fear of children that they will grow up to reflect the same abusive behaviors that their parents had due to reflex, and I'm excited to see how Arnold tackles this concern!

Billy Jones's Father has a great storyline. I'm curious to find out what happens to Billy's athletic life and whether Arnold ends up making the same mistakes his father made.
This book is great for sports enthusiasts. Congratulations on making book of the day!

I like the theme of this one. It just goes to show that parenting is NOT for everyone. But it may also send the message that people can avoid repeating the mistakes their parents made.

It is quite sad the extent of abuse some fathers inflict on their sons just because they can. I sincerely hope Arnold does not toe the same path as his father in raising up his son.

I'm not an avid lover of sports stories, so, I didn't fully connect with this book. However, the story seems enlightening and will best be loved by people who love sports. Congrats on BOTD.

While I am not into sports, I believe this book demonstrates an intricate study of the characters. I would love to find out if Arnold turns out different than his abusive father. Thanks for the awesome review!

This seems like an inspiring story. I hope Arnold does better than his own father and uses better coaching (and parenting) techniques to help Billy. It seems like the author did a wonderful job balancing the heavy themes with some lighter themes. Thanks for a great review! Congrats to the author on BOTD 😊

The case of abusive parents has a huge effect of the children, if not controlled can lead to a family tree of abusive parents with broken marriages. Congrats on being the BOTD.
