This sounds like a good family drama and they are right up my alley. Beth seems like a charming and brave character.

The plot is quite intriguing. I am not a huge fan of historical books but this sounds like something I can grow to like. Thanks for your honest review. 🙂

I liked this story but the plot is very familiar. I am sure I have read a classic on similar lines. I am going to pass this book. Good review. Congratulations BOTD!

Beth certainly sounds like a very resilient woman, and the fact that the book is based on a true story makes the novel all the more attractive to me. Sometimes a slower-paced novel really allows time for the reader to be able to get to know the characters and reflect on some of the main themes of the book, so while it doesn’t sound super high-action, it seems engaging. Congrats on the BOTD!

The review is quite interesting as it presents an enticing sneak peek into a kind of book I would ordinarily not be keen at picking up. Not a big fan of love and romance books.
Congrats on BOTD

This actually sounds like a true story that happened in Brazil in the 1800s. It did NOT have happy ending (in history) as the couple was tracked down, arrested and both sentenced to death. When the police learned the girl was pregnant, they didn't know what to do as it was illegal at the time to kill a pregnant woman. The Brazilian authorities actually wrote to the Vatican and received special dispensation from the pope to execute her while she was pregnant. I hope this book has a better ending than that!

Thank you Rosemary Wright for the review.  After reading the review and a few pages from the free sample, I was drawn into this book quickly.  The author brought the characters to life quite quickly and the storyline was interesting.  I also found many errors in spelling and punctuation.  Since this book is based on a true story, I believe I would like to read this one sometime in the future.  Congrats on BOTD

Based-on-the-true-story novel like this intriguing one has always been a good source to read because it has a real story and each story is different from one another. This book has totally philosophical meaning of life from where we can learn a lot to understand how hard somebody goes through their tough times in their lives. A really recommended one. :techie-studyinggray:
