Your review sparked an interest to read this book. I like the part you wrote about ageism, which really is over looked in society, and about the social issues, such as racism and sexism. This interests me

What a beautiful story, what a breathtaking review! I have neither read the debut nor the sequel, but this review sure piques my interest!

Thanks for this, Jennie!

Really great in depth review. This sounds like such a great story about overcoming adversity. I'm going to have to check this series out.

I'm not that much into family saga, but I must admit, this splendid review might just change my mind. Well done.

The title of the book drew me in immediately. Your review is great. It points out several themes. I'm interested in the theme of aging. The social injustice system and the relatable characters are touching. This appears a book I would enjoy reading over a quiet Sunday afternoon after church. A lot seems to be going on and I love to enjoy reading about women across generations relating with one another.

Your review made me think of one of my all-time favorite books, The Thornbirds, another sweeping multi-generational novel that is set in Australia. You didn't mention if you thought this book stands alone, so I'll look for the first in the set, and then start on this one.
