A wonderful story about John using his potential to make a living for himself and his siblings. It is a lesson of making use of available opportunities to achieve greatness in one's life. Marvellous review.

While I love historical fiction, romance is not really my thing so I'll have to pass on this one. But congratulations on being listed as Book of the day.

I'm not an audacious reader of fictional stories. I'll gladly pass this book on to lovers of it. Nonetheless, the plot seems engaging and the storyline seems like an emotional one. Congrats on BOTD.

I love the storyline. Instead of getting engaged in negative things, one can turn his talent into a career. An amazing masterpiece.

This is a great book that teaches life's true lesson. I admire John's strength and dedication to being successful. His experience as a child wasn't able to stop him. I think this is a spirit everyone needs to have; to stand firm no matter what they are facing or have faced.

Your use of ‘focus’ is appropriate; it reveals the key factor in John's path to success. Je could quite easily have ‘excelled' in crime given his roots.

Unfortunately this is not the kind of book I would enjoy reading because I don't like books about professional fighting. However, congratulations to the author on book of the day.

It seems that John's story will end up being inspiring. In as much that I didn't really connect with the story. I found the storyline to be intriguing and lesson-filled. Congrats on BOTD.

This story reminds me of Filipino boxers who made it to world-class fights. The protagonist's financial situation forced him to work at a young age to help his family. Moreover, he pursued beating up people as a sport, and he became known for it as part of his profession. Congratulations on the BOTD.

Sometimes the streets can help you find out what you're capable of. And seeing people appreciate what you present is encouraging too. I'm not surprised John decided to become a fighter. Thanks for the review and congratulations to the author.

John does sound like an inspirational character. I like that even when he was at risk of becoming a hoodlum because of his fighting skills, he chose to make something good out of a tough situation. A great book for #BOTD.
