I appreciate that the author wants to explore the themes of love and commitment in wartime. Unfortunately, I really don't like the plot, so I have to pass this book. Thank you for this detailed and well-written review, though.

This seems like a very life experiencing book. The Vietnam war is a really big deal, and to read about it would be nice to see in a different experience, from the police themselves.

From the sample read, I believe this will be a very gripping book: Will Sam be ok after the procedure? Will Coppi be in trouble when returning to base after going AWOL? What is going to happen to him over in Vietnam?

The couple of chapters I read of A Police Action by A.A. Freda shows me that this is an experienced writer that knows how to capture an audience. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys a well-written and edited book.

I found it funny how everyone went to James Coppi for a loan; though there were times it seemed as if he didn't have a sense of responsibility, but he was responsible when it counted. I got a copy in exchange for an honest review.

It sounds like a well-put-together book. I like that the characters are developed. I sure hope Sam and James are able to pull through such tough times. Congratulations to the author for winning BOTD.

I'm not a huge fan of war stories but I like them well enough if they're well-written with good characters. I enjoyed The Things They Carried, so I might like this novel as well, especially with a teenager who grows into an independent young woman. Thank you for the helpful review.

The review sounds great with an outline that seems to have well built characters and ability to visualize not only the scenes but also the characters especially James Coppi

A Police Action by A.A. Freda examines the social and psychological costs of war as seen in the lives of a young soldier, James, and his girlfriend Samantha, who are affected by the Vietnam War. We learn from reviewer stacie_k that from America to Vietnam, Freda provides a sharp focus on the impact of the war on individuals. It presents the war's drama at personal levels. There's not much on the physical gore left by the war but there's more on how people's internal lives are turned upside down by this widescale and traumatic crisis.

A young soldier set for deployment to Vietnam and a young woman already pregnant by someone else. What are the odds that they can be together? A Police Action by A.A. Freda is a romance with strong historical settings against the backdrop of the Vietnam War, a story with powerful elements of coming-of-age literature, a gripping plot, and a conflict that is both psychologically and emotionally intense. When James Coppi and Samantha Powers meet at the Country Honky Tonk in Colorado Springs, the attraction between the two is immediate and strong, but what are their chances of being together? It’s for the reader to find out.

A Police Action by A.A. Freda is a story that is well-plotted and the reader is immediately transported into the inner workings of the hearts of the characters. The author makes readers feel their emotions of fear and youthful anxiety and passion. The conflict is strong and the characters are so real that readers will find themselves feeling for them and caring about what happens to them. I was seduced by the author’s narrative style which combines powerful prose with exceptional, plot-driven dialogues. The dialogues are crafted to read naturally and they help in character development and plot enhancement. The economy of language and the exciting diction make for a wonderful reading experience. The narrative voice is strong and it pulls the reader into the plot right away. The setting is clear and readers are left in no doubt that the author researched this story, because it comes across vividly. This is a precious gem, a work of great entertainment.

While I'm interested in learning more about the Vietnam War, the romance element in this book will probably be what I'll enjoy the most. Nice review.

I had the opportunity to watch a lot of movies about the Vietnam war. However, this narration depicts it in a very different perspective. A very detailed review. Good.

Thank you for the substantial review! This one is a hit since the Author himself shared his personal experiences during the time he served in the Vietnam war. I can really feel the credibility of the story plot and settings. I like how the narrative became relevant in today's generation. Very eloquent probe.
