Sounds like a terrifying but truthful book. Sad thing is, most of what this book is about has happened before; I have no doubts about this. The themes within are too violent for my liking, so I will be passing. But congrats to the author on BOTD! :)

Nice and very informative review. This sounds like a very detailed and descriptive historical fiction book. I will probably skip this one as I don’t enjoy books that involve torture and inhuman acts.

There comes a time when our original intent for certain actions are tested. Sometimes, it's easy to get shrouded with the euphoria of power. When push comes to shove, like it did for Captain Jamsheed, our true motive is tested.

Great review! From the sample, I agree that this book is not for sensitive readers.

I agree that when the first-person narrative is in the voice of the protagonist, readers would relate to the story better. Well done to the author of this book for coming up with such an intriguing storyline.

The setting of the plot cleverly chosen, and it is quite evident that the circumstances in which the Pahlavi dynasty crumbled, and the protagonist's mission to fulfill his duty is an intriguing aspect of this story.

Though a brutal subject, I’m intrigued by this book. As negative as people can be about the American justice system, the horrific acts in this book are not blatantly accepted by our system in our Prisons. This sounds like a difficult subject that deserves it’s light of day. Great review and eye opening.

Just like Jamshed, there is always a time when we may have to choose between our family and something else, but our family always non-negotiable. The storyline of this novel seems very intriguing. The book is worth a try. Thanks.

Based on the review, the book is an eye opener to reader presenting how prison life looks like. Being brutally honest, the book seems intense and therefore, for me, very intriguing.

I consider this novel very timely and purposeful, as it is well dedicated. Indeed, in some prisons in many countries, innocent people are lavishing in them. Thanks for books like this.

I love this idea that this book brings awareness to the horrific conditions of this prison due to the political conflicts of the country. I never read books even remotely related to this gritty reality about prisoners. It is definitely not my area of true interest or expertise, but I would love to learn more. I will sample it and see if it's for me. Excellent review!
