Raven has got a unique plot, and Preacher sounds like an interesting character. I'm curious to know what played our in the small town of Ferguson.
Great review.

The name raven is intriguing. I wonder why the author chose that specific name. A story about a little town. I usually don't like historical fiction but this is intriguing. Great review.

The protagonist is a witty preacher who sets out to rejuvenate a struggling Southern town. He is cunning and employs manipulation tactics to skew the odds in his favor. The story is well written, which will motivate readers to check out other books in the series.

The official OBC reviewer, Jsovermyer, has perfectly justified why she gave the book a perfect rating. Personally, I do not find the protagonist intriguing, but I might change my mind if I read it. Who knows? Well, congratulations to DM Barrett for Book of the Day!

Although fiction is not a usually a genre I particularly read regularly, this book hooked me from the beginning, I definitely recommend to those who love to read fiction novels!

I did not guess the premise of the story from the title. I do love historical fiction and period pieces, so this book is right up my alley. Thanks for the review!

It’s ironic that the same Christianity that cheated natives out of their heritage is the one that represents them now in opposition to thedesecration of what’s left of their land (the power lines). It does seem like an interesting book, particularly because the preacher is cast as the solution to the general malaise afflicting Ferguson.

Religious fiction is not my cup of tea, besides I kind of feel there are some information missing in regards to the account of Elijah and the Raven. Did the Raven really feed Elijah or God used it to feed Elijah? My understanding of that account it's God who fed Elijah, and He used the Raven as a means to execute that act of kindness. So, who should get more glory? I hope whoever is reading this is getting my point. Anyway, that's my understanding. I like that the writing style is flawless and that the story portray unique characters. Congratulations on being the BOTD.

The book "Raven" is an enlightenment to read because it not only educated me on past American history about the great depression among others, but it gave a real insight on just how resourceful the preacher was and how things can be made to work even better if we can be resourceful enough to make it work.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's unlikely that a town could be revived so quickly during the Great Depression but the story was so well written and hopeful that I didn't want to put it down.
