While I’m not particularly interested in this type of book, I think the photos of Martin and his family and photocopies of documents are a nice addition. It sounds like a thorough round of editing could make this memoir even more enjoyable.

This is an interesting way to write a biography! The story sounds adventurous enough with the travels and espionage, and I liked the review. I think I'll add this one for a later read.

An interesting review! It's amazing to read the true story of a soldier who led a normal life after the war through his hard work. The story seems to be a biography written by a daughter about her father's life as a soldier, and also, as a person who involved in a national spy group. Though I am not interested much in war stories, there are many people out there who love war stories. Congratulations to the author on being BOTD!

This is really beautiful where martin's life is being told by his daughter. This must be a good book but I am particularly not interested in autobiographies.

A biography that is written as fiction sounds quite interesting. I like the historical aspect of the story. The relationship between Martin and Leni spices the book really well. Great review.

Iron Crosses is a biography of Martin and Leni and their life as they try and raise their children. They start in Denmark, Russia and Italy and bring every aspect of their lives together to make a very interesting story of love, hardships and food shortages to give this book some intrigue and yet add balance and character.

Martin’s life leads him from a carpenter to his service as a soldier and spy. This book has me inspired that I will try to read it.

This sounds really intriguing; while I've read fictionalised biographies before, they've generally been of people dead for centuries, rather than someone so recent.

This book sounds interesting. A biography that is presented as fiction is sort of weird but it intrigues me. I like that the author conveys different emotions well and also like the personal touch of adding photos to the book. Thanks for your review.

I'm actually a historical fiction lover and have never actually read a biography written in that manner, but I'm not really interested in the personal struggles of a soldier. I don't believe in war and volunteering to participate in it so I'm not exactly sympathetic to their cause. Thanks for the review though.

The review is very nice and also enlightening. It is quite encouraging to read that the author did a good job to convey the different emotions experienced in the various circumstances. I have added this to my ‘want to read’ shelf.
