This book elicited anger, joy, pain, and every other possible emotion. My heart was able beating for one of the reasons listed. Amora, her husband, and other characters in the book go through the fire of pain and the fight for redemption for each of them is the true highlight of the book. One of the best books I've read in months.

A very interesting book. I almost read this book once, but I'm not sure about the story. After reading this review, I'm very interested to read it now. Thanks for the review.

This books sounds like it really challenges the reader to think and contemplate how to deal with loving your enemies and forgiving those who wrong you. It puts turn the other cheek as a concept to apply in the most difficult of circumstances.

Thank you for your review.

This book touches on something I think most people do not want to explore... The temptation of revenge. When something bad happens to our loved ones, it isn't that easy to just forgive the perpetrator and I think I'm going to enjoy this book. Wonderful review!

I have read Amora and i believe it model's true Christian virtue.

This review has me feeling simultaneously curious and wary. I don't generally enjoy religious elements in fiction, but this one sounds like it straddles the line between religion & philosophy. Which is quite intriguing; so I will be adding this one to my tbr!

Amora finds herself compelled to make tough decisions following her daughter's murder. The book is worth reading to discover how her faith aids her decision-making. Fantastic review.
Congratulations on winning BOTD!

The concept behind the story about the choice between forgiveness and revenge is interesting. I don't see a dilemma in that, as blood must be repaid with blood. Though I don't share the same view as Amora i'll still be interested in reading more about this story. To the reviewer job well done.

From the excellent review, I learned this story has several facets. Love, loss, anger, and forgiveness. The introduction of Christianity when it began and the relationships in the book are of interest. However, not being a Christian, I have difficulty reading about it. So I will pass on reading this one. Amora sounds like a formidable woman who can handle what comes her way. Congratulations to the author on BOTD!

I can imagine how it felt to lose her child because I have lost a loved one and getting over this loss, is a very hard one. I honestly enjoyed reading this review, even though I'm not a fan of historical fiction.
