Although historical fiction is one of my favorite genres, the concept of the American war is not something I think I'm interested in reading. Nice review. Congratulations on winning BOTD.

I love historical fiction, and when I searched in detail, I found that the Nez Perce band formed an alliance with the Palouse band to fight against the US Army, which was fought between June and October 1877. The fight resulted from the Nez Perce refusing to give up their ancestral land to move to an Indian reservation in Idaho.

In search of his stepmother, the protagonist joins his father to find peace in the war. It's an unique plot.

The Indian wars were a fascinating period in history, where two stubborn peoples clashed against each other. Unfortunately, very few went in with the intention of learning from each other. While this book sounds intriguing, the violence that occurred in these wars, as you mentioned, is definitely not for me. Nonetheless, I appreciate your great review!

The book is an historical fiction focused on the life of Jack Paniel and his search for his stepmother. Historical fictions are one of the best genres out there as although they might be boring at times, they certainly keep the reader going.

I'm always interested in the Indians and the history about them, so I'm sure this is going to be a great read. Jack sounds like quite a character and it seems that luck keeps evading him, so I'm curious to see if this changes. Thanks for a wonderful review.

I like historical fiction but, not all the time. Although Jack's story seems like it would make a great read, I think I will pass. Congrats though on being BOTD.

"Bone Necklace" by Julia Sullivan appears to be an exceptional story combining historical fact in the narrative with well-developed fictional characters. The story, as reviewed, seems like it could be an enjoyable and enlightening read. Congratulations on being the Book of the Day!

I got a kick out of the characters witty banter, especially between him and his dog. Connecting with the main character always makes a historical, fiction read easier to settle into.....
