This book sounds fascinating. I love historical fiction and it sounds like this author has taken a story from a time period that can be difficult to relate to and made it relatable. I look forward to reading it. Great review!

Rather than bombarding the reader with highly elevated speech that is SO common in historical fiction, Holmes presents the story in the vernacular. Characters speak and think completely informally, and this stylistic choice has the effect of making me feel unexpectedly comfortable in an unfamiliar setting. The settings are also described in an absolutely stunning manner, right from the very beginning.

Congratulations on BOTD and thank you for a great review; it represented the book well and your opinions were considered and helpful.. I agree with your comment above about the importance of dialog reflecting the everyday language of characters. The use of ordinary phrases and colloquialisms adds so much more depth to characters. It's good to know this enhanced your reading experience.

This must be a highly informational and educational historical fiction. It seemed like it focused on Egyptian religious hegemony. However, most nations do have their history with religious evolution. This will make a wonderful read.

This historical fiction about Egyptian religion is skillfully written. Not a fan of such books like this but the review is awesome.

Historical fiction novels are not really the usual kind of stories that I read, so I'll pass on this one. However, I want to say that it seems that the story tackled in the title is very interesting since the time period when it took place is chaotic. Congratulations to the author for BOTD!

It is kind of a refreshing change to see someone tackle this era with simple and modern speech. Since their way of talk was very hard to follow and understand. Great review
Recite in the name of your Lord who created [*] Created man from a clinging substance [*] Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous [*] Who taught by the pen [*] Taught man that which he knew not.

Impressive review. However, when I first read that informal language and all that were used to express the characters' thoughts, I feared that it would become a little difficult to manage and that was exactly what happened. Apart from this, it sounds like an intriguing piece of historical fiction.

I have always had a wonder for Egyptian histories. So many new findings everyday, interesting historical events, both scary, horrifying, and intriguing ones. I like that some authors tend to weave fictional stories around these events, making it much better to learn these histories. Good one from the author. Congratulations on being the #BOTD. Intriguing review.
