I will keep this in mind when I am ready for a "complicated and intricate" read. I like the idea of music bringing nations together, and I do prefer to learn history through fiction rather that textbooks.

This historical fiction novel about politics, relationships, and music, set against a Mideast backdrop, sounds great; I may give this one a look. Thanks for the great review, Rayasaurus. :techie-studyingbrown:

This seems like a great read! Historical fiction novels that can double as thrillers are definitely my style.

I can tell there is a lot to be learned from this book, sadly, historical fiction is not my thing. However, this was a great, detailed review. Thank you!

It was indeed a great review of this book. I completely believe that music serves as a link between people from different cultures, nationalities, and faith. It's a common connection that can set all the differences aside and bridge the cultural gap. The author has brought a very beautiful concept through characters like Irith and Jamal. It would be fun reading this book. Thanks for the review. And congratulations on BOTD.

A historical fiction novel that follows two teens, Israeli and Palestinian...That plotline sounds really interesting. Great review.

I love to see friendships like that of Irith and Jamal, where there's loyalty because such relationships go a long way and they always watch out for each other. The story is really captivating and I would like to read this someday. Thanks to the author for writing such an amazing book and thanks for the great review.

Thanks for the informative review. Olive Tree sounds like an intriguing book. I'd love to see how the school manages to open its doors amidst the turmoil caused by the two countries. Congrats on being the BOTD.

Teenagers already have enough growing-up issues. Those in Israel have to contend with much more. It is cliche, but peace is what we all need. Noor's deathbed prayer says it all.

Good review. I have always liked books with politically driven action. It is interesting to note that the protagonists were not adults. I might read this one.
