I am curious whether love or racism wins in Elizabeth and Pierre's relationship. Thank you for your review.

Seems to be a well conceived story about two women struggling separately to settle in a same but new place hiding their true identities. The review is well made bringing out the scenario in its gist. Thanks for a nice review.

An interesting take on an elderly woman, it seems to be rare to read about such a concept. One normally doesn't think of those who are aged as people who have struggles. Excited to read! Thank you for the copy!

Historical fiction isn't usually my first choice, but something feels different about this one, and I'm curious to find out what happens in today's BOTD! In addition to the themes about racism, identity, and truth, I think the storyline sounds quite promising, and I love that strong women are the main/central characters! Thank you for the wonderful review! I've downloaded my copy! :-)

Thank you for your review. I am intrigued. I would like to find out how the lives of these women entwine and how Elizabeth keeps her secret and lives with her racist. It's refreshing to have older women as the main characters, especially strong, older women. Congratulations on BOTD!

I'm not really a fan of historical fiction but the main character this review describes has me intrigued. This is because I am purely African, but so light-skinned I could pass for white and I have on a few occasions. I can't wait to read and find out more about this character and how she deals with racism from her fiance.

This sounds like an interesting exploration of racism in the south, which is a tough topic. I love that the protagonist is a strong woman trying to navigate her own identity and find her truth.

I love that Margaret, though elderly, is a crucial part of the story. We don’t see enough media that treats older people with respect. I’ll probably read this book now. Thanks!

This book has an interesting plotline that on the surface sounds mundane, but it is actually quite intriguing to read. It makes it more interesting because of the duel with unknown cause. Congrats on the BOTD!

Excellent review, which makes you grab the book and start reading immediately! Such engaging storyline, intriguingly based on real event, but developed thanks to creative imagination of talented author. I really look forward to it and gratefully I won't need to wait! Thank you for your generous gift and congratulations on BOTD!

Your review has piqued my interest! I don't think I've read a book with an aging person as a main character, so I'm excited to get to know Margaret better.

Since her skin color did not show she had a black heritage. I would like to know how racism came in. Good review
