I have read a lot of WWII stories. I tend to like them, so I will give the book a try

A story of the lives of people during the German attack of Italy during World War II sounds exciting. I look forward to seeing how Francesca contributes to the resistance, helps her brother, and even falls in love. This book sounds amazing so congratulations on BOTD.

That sounds like a very interesting read. I would prefer a happy ending though. Not sure if I will read it knowing that it may not end well for some characters. Great review!

The story of Rome is both beautiful and sad. I've always enjoyed reading how it was built and its fall. This sounds like a great novel to add to my already huge collection of Rome stories. Great review.
Insofar as the word 'should' even has meaning, then we must say that the past is exactly as it should be, everything that happened should have happened, and everything that should happen will happen

I have always been a fan of Historical Fiction novels, especially those about WWII. The characters seem amazing, I cannot wait to find out if Francesca manages to rescue Roberto.

I don't usually find war stories interesting, but Francesca's and Carlo's spying efforts make it sound like an interesting romantic war drama. The synopsis kind of reminds me of movies like the Pianist, but it's a new book, and I wonder if it will ever be as popular among readers as that movie is among moviegoers.

I enjoy stories around WWII. I have read much about German but not as much about Italy. So this will be an interesting read.

I'm not sure I agree with you on the mix between fiction and real events. That would distract me.

Historical fiction is one of my least favorite genres, as is romance. I don't think I'll be reading this.

War stories is always my take whether a true life story or a work of fiction. This piece is never an exception. I hope francisca and Roberto succeed in their quest. Thanks for the review.

Despite my ardent love for historical fiction, World War II never was the subject of my interest. Still, I had to read several books for assignment in university and experience was quite grating. As it happens, one of those was very similar to this book's story with slight diversity due the fact it was taking place in France and civilian resistance was also concerned about hiding wine storages. I really don't think myself able to be subjected to fates of poor souls caught by the Germans again.

I also loved the third-person narration and the maps. It makes me feel more involved with the story. But I have to say that I wished that the opening would have been stronger. For example, I thought that the opening of the second chapter was much more captivating and would have made a better opening.

Shadow Song by Anita Morrish is a fiction about the war between Germany and Italy. I am reading this book to know if Francesca's brother, Roberto, did return from war unharmed. I love the author's plot and writing style.
