Great review! I don't usually read this type of book, but from your review and the sample of the book, it seems like it would be something that I would enjoy. I am going to put it on my list of books to read.

The book sounds interesting and inspiring about a boy who at the age of 9 was called a bastard. But at such a young age this boy showed determination and perseverence to prove his worth and become a knight just like his father. It will be interesting to read this book. Congratulations on becoming BOTD!

This is an interesting review! I like how you describe Archie’s strong character and his determination despite being called a “bastard.” It’s also helpful to know that the historical parts were detailed and easy to picture. Your comments made the book sound interesting, especially for readers who enjoy inspiring stories set in the past.

I do hope Archie was able to achieve his goal of becoming a knight. Even though he had many disadvantages during his younger years, it does not seem that Archie will let them stop him. Thanks for the review!

"The Douglas Bastard" tells the moving story of Archibald Douglas, a determined young orphan who rises above loss and rejection to chase his dream of knighthood. I found it inspiring and heartfelt—a powerful reminder that strength can come from the hardest beginnings. Congrats BOTD!

This looks like a truely inspiring and well written book. Based in history, what was, and still is, a sad reality to many. I can't wait to read it.
