Wow, this book promises so much. Adventure is one of my best themes in books. I'll like to read about canoe river traveling, fur trading, lovable pets, and others. Nice review.

A story staged in California long ago, where greed, friendship, murder, companionship, and adventure combine to give life to a journey of five men in their search for gold and wealth.

Thank you for such an intriguing review! It definitely interests me to read the book soon. The historical fiction, adventures, great friendship, gold lessons, all sound worth reading and enjoying. Good to hear the flawless narration to be able to read it easily. Also, the mystery is still being kept in the review which is fantastic.

Congrats on BOTD!
In the British colonies, survival of the fittest prevailed as people sought gold. Action and adventure are essential! books that depict males showing affection to one another. A bonus is constantly having pets. People had to establish alliances in order to survive in the 1800s, and both the finest and worst of human connections were on display.

The gold rush is a very interesting part of history, as it shows the true character of human beings. This book seems to have a good combination of history and fiction.

This book is more than just a story. It teaches moral lessons applicable in life. This book sounds enjoyable. I'll like to read about this gold search in 1860. Great review.

The review is brief and precise and gives a gist of the theme of the book. Fictions based on gold rush are generally adventurous and this appears to fall under that category. Thanks for a nice review.

The content of the story seems interesting, especially with the different natures of the characters, and although I am not interested in the historical dimension of searching for gold here, the review aroused my curiosity to know the events, beautifully written review. Good choice for BOTD.

I’m not a fan of action novels, but I like the idea of adding in real historical background of the gold rush in British Columbia, Canada.

Raymond Maher's 'The Second Five' sounds like a gripping wilderness adventure set against the backdrop of the 1858 Gold Rush. With trust, fellowship, and friendship at its core, it's more than just a hunt for gold. 📚⛏️ Congratulations on being BOTD!

The "cost of chasing their dreams" may look dangerous, but they realize that being grateful and alive each day is more important than gold.
- This could be said about real life too, and I'm grateful to the reviewer for pointing it out here. You truly have the gift of writing. Thank you.
