The review did justice to the book "Crossroads of Empire". It indicated the high caliber of writer that Michael J Cooper is, crafting a book that is such a delight to read. While reading a few pages of the book, I quickly realized I should own a copy; I must read the whole story. I now have confirmation because of the review. I will have to get other books by the author, like “Wages of Empire”, and I am sure I will not be disappointed.
An excellent and informative review. Well done!

"Crossroads of Empire" by Michael J Cooper is historical fiction that starts in the early months of WWI and it is a sequel to “Wages of Empire”. The Arabs were seeking independence from the Ottoman Empire but it was clear t Prince Faisal that neither the Turks or the Germans would give them independence. Therefore the Arabs were counting on an accord that he hoped to negotiate with the Brits. Evan Sinclair lost his memories after being the sole survivor of a shipwreck. Evan began to investigate his ancestry and found amazing discoveries of who he really was but one must read the book to learn what he discovered. Meanwhile Kaiser Wilhelm does not want the Americans to enter the war because of his vested interests in the Middle East. I enjoy reading books in sequence so I plan to read Wages of Empire in the near future and then restart this book. Crossroads of Empires focuses on November 1914 to May 1915 with a future book or books covering the remainder of the war. Cooper wrote the book in chronological order by chapter and this makes it very easy to follow the flow of events. The official reviewer found that Chapter 13 appears twice but the next edition should correct this. Even with this error the book was rated 5 out of 5-stars and based on the sample I agree with the rating. I am looking forward to reading the entire series.

It's good to see that Crossroads of Empire can be read as a standalone book; this is hard to do with many books. While I am not a history buff and will be passing on this book, I appreciate the author's time put into creating an intriguing historical fiction. Thanks for the review!

Crossroads of Empire by Michael Cooper is a good book that describes how Europe and Asia interacted through trade, diplomacy, and war over the last few centuries. The book discusses conflicts between different national powers, showing how their struggles made impacts to the region. The book is filled with accurate and historical details, making it a great resource for people who want to learn more about international history. I feel that the book could have been written to stay more interesting throughout, however it is very informative for anyone who wants to know how Central Asia has shaped our world today.

I love historical fiction, and this is one of the best books I've read in that vein. I didn't know much about the struggle over the fate of Palestine during the First World War, but Cooper brilliantly nails it. He interweaves several storylines over several continents to paint a world that is distant from our own, and at the same time recognizable. One hundred plus years later the issues feel very relevant, and the characters are true and engaging. There are historical Easter eggs to be found everywhere: T.E. Lawrence, Winston Churchill, and Kaiser Wilhelm all make appearances, along with characters Cooper has rendered with love and smarts. Definitely epic in its scope, but also intimate and grounded in its characters. Very entertaining. Highly recommend

This book captures the tales of a war ravaging a vast land and the world, the people seeking to find freedom and hope within their ability to negotiate, and the help that Prince Faisal could offer. I'd love to find out how it's ends.

Prince Faisal's hopes for freedom rested on a fragile alliance with the British. Would love to find out if it lead to liberation or betrayal.

The book is a work of fiction that takes place during the month of World War I. The Arabs wanted to be free of the Ottoman Empire. They were hoping for his people's independence, especially for Prince Faisal. In contrast, Evan Sinclair, the only survivor of a shipwreck, lost his memory. Rosslyn Castle was the destination of his memory recovery journey. It is evident that this book paints a clear picture of the more intense years of World War I.
