The themes of love and family are nicely explored in the book "Deceitful Survival" by LC Lee, which focuses on life journey of Beth, later known as Sister Mary Andree La roux. She was born and raised in Brittany. Having lost her both parents at a very young age, she became a nun due to untoward circumstances. The story appears to be quite heart touching.
life is only knowing the unknown, we can do this by reading books easily- Online book club is a great place for this. This is what I believe.

I felt she became a nun because of the things she had to go through, I believe she saw that as the only option but she could have stayed a nun and not become a mum after taking the vows. But looking at it from another angle, being a nun was destined because that was how she was able to find love. I believe everything was destined to happen that way. I like the story from a nun to a mum.

Appreciate you review.
Good review Rosemary Wright. What I learnt from your review is that the Novel is an emotional story of a poor girl Beth mold herself into a strong women at the cost of her passion. Her journey well from her brother, aunt her brothers, Aunt Simone' and outside world. Her life span is full of struggles and hardships until she sees her in the shoes of a Nun. Hope to read the book in full.

Down to earth review. I like it as much as I like the plot of this book and I wonder if they'll be brave enough to break their religious vows? I've got to know.

It sounds really interesting, even if I usually go for an action-packed book. But the characters sound very well written. Thanks for the great review!

Thank you for the great review!

Sounds quite interesting even though I don't usually read historical fiction novels. It makes it more interesting knowing it is based on a true story.

The book has the right balance of descriptions and dialogues. Lee described the characters very well, enough for a reader to relate to them. They are so vivid, especially the protagonists, Beth and René, who are calm and resilient. Beth is a determined woman, with great love for her family. Somewhere in the story, she had to do something out of the ordinary to get her family back together. Miguel, Beth's son, is a strong young man, proving that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
It's hard to strike a good balance between description, action, and dialogues, so kudos to the author.
I like historical fiction and this seems like a book for me. Hopefully, the author will take your comments into account and polish the editing.
Thank you!

I glad to hear from your review that after a "sketchy" beginning the book gets better. I read the sample pages and have decided this book is not for me.
We’re gonna need a bigger bookshelf.

Sounds super interesting story. The fact that real places are used makes the story relatable. Also its really nice to see that although meant to be historical fiction shows things that can happen today. Bravo!!!!!

This book definitely needs a content warning. While I do like some historical fiction, I'll skip this one for now. Thanks for the review. I like that you pointed out the balance between dialogue and description.

The story of the book is sad. It describes the life of Beth who lost her parents. The story of the book is about the life they go through after the death of their parents. Beth is an example story that shows she has worked hard at the end and decided to escape

I love the idea whereby the author used "historical events and real places" to provide "an entertaining and a thought-provoking tale." Moreover, the summary of the book in the review provides an assurance that the story is promising. I will read the book. Congratulations to the author and the BOTD.
