War is baseless, especially when the problem that led to it persists afterwards. I like this review. The book also will make a good read.

What makes me intrigued about this story is that even in the presence of the war relationship with our loved ones, with family and with ourselves takes the biggest part of our lives. This aspect makes you feel closer to the story, although I never experienced what it means to relive the war. Great review!

Learning to cope with tragedy and pain can give life depth, and the stories accompanied can give solace and strength to those that read it. This sounds like a truly beautiful and inspiring book. Something tells me I’d need a box of tissues by my side, though!

Thanks for the review, but I really dislike historical fiction, especially stories dealing with war and its repercussions, so I will not be reading this book.

I always feel like (due to some Aryan race problems) World War 2 was more overemphasized than the first. Therefore it is interesting to read a book that focuses on World War 1. Also i like the fact that this book does not only tell the war's story, but also the characters' personal lives.

Seemingly this is a good book among the numerous books which are woven arround WW I. However, I am not very comfortable with books that deal with emotional aspects, so I will pass on this one. Congratulations on being BOTD and thanks for the free giveaway

Yeah, it is very true that no one has ever given a thought, "why did the war exactly happen at 1st place" or "Was the War worthy enough when again the next war had to happen". N really no one can feel the pain that the war survivors had to go through. With the help of this book, one can just imagine & understand this pain as it vividly portrays the loss during the war. Thanks for your review, due to which a reader can clearly understand the content of the book that he is gonna read n make a decision if he's gonna read it or not.
A wonderful book and a cup of black tea in my hands make my day joyful! :tiphat:

I was captivated by the opening pages, and your review only made me want to read on more. I think what you said about the opening part with Katy reading on the library ladder got me, and if the rest of the book is laid out in that manner, then it will be worth my time. This one is going on my want to read shelf.

Katy sounds like a well-read bookworm who likes to dream (as am I!) So can really relate to her. I love characters like that.

Stories of war are the most painful. I wonder how people survive through them so I guess this is a good book to explore that idea.

Good review. I love historical books and the certain caught my attention. Katy sounds like a very strong character and I’m interested in seeing what happens to her husband. Congrats on BOTD.

It seems like a tale of the war and people affected by it. It's also intriguing to think that the people who faced the first world war didn't know it was the first world war, until there was a second one. Thanks for the review.

Is it weird that I already like Katy because she's a reader? Anyway, I love that the book focuses on war and what they are actually fighting for since they all seemed to 'die for nothing'. It's a question that looks a war in an objective light and I love to see if the book can answer it. I also like that Katy is trying to figure out her place in the world. Aren't we all? Again, I'm hoping that the book will give a great answer.
