This sounds like an outstanding historical book for fans of the Civil War. The fact that the author presents the strengths and weaknesses of General Winfield Hancock makes it much more credible. The rating of 4 out of 4 stars with a well-researched storyline sounds inviting for anyone who genuinely enjoys reading military history. Thanks for the great review.

Today's BOTD is for fans of military and war historical fiction. Well-written and perfectly rated, the author brings scenes to life for readers through his descriptions and well-rounded, realistic characters. I've downloaded my copy!! Thank you for the wonderful review! :-)

It's so sad that the soldiers are not well compensated despite their selfless services. I enjoy historical fiction stories; I have added this book to my shelf. Thanks for your fabulous review.

Truly,I wouldn't want to go through such a text, since it contains war stories, that am not found of from a book. I'd rather have it maybe as a movie scene but from the book no. This I'll pass. Great review though.

This historical fiction novel sounds like a great book to read. I enjoy stories where the past is engaging and made alive again for a brief period of time. Great review!

I don’t usually read books about war but there have been historic works of fiction I’ve enjoyed. Based on the review, this seems to be one of them that does a good job humanizing the historical figure and event.

Thank you for the informative review. It sounds interesting. I appreciate authors who do their research well. It gives fiction an element of reality that it needs to transport the reader into the story.

It is so appropriate for a retired U.S. Army officer to write about another distinguished army officer who lived and fought more than 200 years ago.
The review identifies all the good points of the book like as many reasons to read it.
Readers have a chance to "visit" the Civil War and understand perhaps more how the United States became what they are today and the sacrifice and dedication of one who contributed to it.
