I love the quote given by this epic review. Our age should be seen as a well-deserved experience rather than a cloak of shame. Perfectly scripted work from the author. Thanks for this review.

The sample available of the book did not draw me in a way that I would have liked. Maybe if I read the first book I would have more background and be more interested in this sequel. You seemed to have liked the book very much and have written a very thorough review for us! I will take a look at the first book and come back to this one!

Character driven plot, exclusive storyline makes it a wonderful read. Great review.

I am so glad this author wrote a sequel. Natalie’s story continues and readers get more insight into the two sisters as well. I love this author’s descriptive style. I read and reviewed More Heavens Than One, and she is a fantastic writer. I love how she puts stories into short chapters so you can get in a little reading and come back to it later. This one for sure is on my list!

This sounds like a great family drama with engaging characters. I also like books that are written in the first person, like this one. I may give this one a look. Thanks for the review, Julie. :techie-studyingbrown:

A nicely written book which switches the perspective so that we view every situation through different characters' eyes. This helps to develop these characters. It sounds like a nice book. Thanks for the review.

After reading the review and sample, I decided this book is not for me. Romance and historical family drama is not something I enjoy. I'll pass for now.

Thank you for your review! I had no idea there was a sequel to Ironbark Hill. It was one of my first reviews and I absolutely loved it. I am glad the strong first-person narrative has carried over to this novel.

I love Jennie Linnane's books because of her exceptional creativity. I'm surprised that this is a sequel of Ironbark Hill.

In more ways than one, I feel like a Natalie. Her family's circumstances apply to mine so much, and I don't think "our" sense of responsibility as the eldest could have been better surmised than this sentence, "...duty to the family is not only an expression of love but also an implicit delegation entrusted to me…there was an immense gift of pleasure to be reaped from looking after the people I love.” I also loved the line about age not being a coat of shame, but a "triumphant cloak which bears testimony to a lifetime of experience.” Certainly, I will be getting to know my "friend" Natalie a lot better when I read this book. Thanks for sharing.

Wow! That's high praise. Thank you for your review. You have single-handedly interested me in this book because, quite frankly, the Amazon blurb and the cover leave a lot to be desired. I love that quote about aging. That's a beautiful perspective to take. Thanks for a well-written review. I always enjoy reading your reviews.
